DBAW 2020

It’s Deafblind Awareness Week (DBAW) 2020, and the purpose of this week-long awareness campaign is to increase understanding and awareness of deafblindness.

However, this year with COVID-19 having an enormous impact on the lives and well-being of those living with dual-sensory loss, we hope to also highlight during DBAW the difficulties the ‘new normal’ has created. For what took many deafblind individuals time to become familiar with a routine, whether it’s navigating the streets, using public transport, or buying groceries, has become severely disrupted due to social distancing, floor markings on streets/shop floors, COVID-19 display signs, to name but a few examples.

We hope you can join us in this campaign by sharing our daily posts on #DBAW2020 which you will find on Twitter and Instagram, and by sharing your experiences too using the hashtag #DBAW2020 or #DBAW20. Our images for #DBAW2020 can be downloaded and shared as long as they are not edited/altered in any way.
